Last time Andrew Garbarino managed to sleep through one of the most important votes of his time in the House. This time we want him to VOTE NO on the "Big Bad Bill" so we are having a letter-writing relay to personally drop off letters at his Patchogue office. Sign up for a day that works for you to drop off a letter. You'll get a template by email that you can personalize and print and then hand-write a message and sign. After that you just deliver the letter to his Patchogue office to let him know we wnat hime to VOTE NO! Get a group of friends together to deliver letters on the same day. Imagine that someone calls you. They tell you about the new rights that you have as a tenant because tenants (just like you) fought for and WON a law called Good Cause Eviction. Then, they tell you about the plan they have to replace Central Hudson with a publicly owned utility company so that your electric bills go down and invite you to be a part of it... You'd probably be pretty happy they called, right?! On Thursday night, we're going to be the ones calling to share the good news. Our phonebanking objective varies based on what we want to mobilize people around. Right now we're focusing on letting tenants know about their protections under ETPA/GCE (don't worry if you don't know what these abbreviations mean!), the Hudson Valley Power Authority, and HR9495. We meet every Saturday to peacefully protest the actions of the current administration and to protect our Democracy. We are asking people to line the sidewalks in front of Lewis Park as well as the Town Hall across the street but not block any businesses along Main Street. As we peacefully resist we ask that you follow the following: Stay off of all private property and stand on the sidewalk or between the sidewalK and the road. We ask that you not block intersections and pedestrians if they need to get by. Please be respectful of businesses and not stand in front of such business. Do not use bullhorns or other application devises. Treat drivers with respect even if they do not support our positions. This is a peaceful rally so do not engage with any counter protesters or individuals with opposing views. Bring signs and recruit friends to participate.
