STAGING

Collective Defiance is a list of local town halls, protests, and other community events in defiance of the Trump administration.

We only support non-violent action. In addition to being a moral imperative, non-violence is a political strategy. It leads to social change by intentionally provoking compassion and empathy on the part of the viewer. Research shows that it is 10 times more likely to result in democratic change.

To add an event, please post the details to BlueSky with the hashtag #CollectiveDefiance.

Upcoming events by zip code or topic:
(for example, "83401" or "32034 protests" or "74008 town hall")

NYC Declaration of Interdependence: March to Protect Migrants and the Planet

Sat Apr 19 @ 4pm • New York, NY 10018
Saturday, April 19thMarch north from Bryant Park at 12 PMRSVP: https://www.summerofheat.org/migrantmarchConnect with 50501 NY: https://50501ny.orgDeclaration of Interdependence: New York Fights BackIn honor of Earth Day — and on the anniversary of the American Revolution — 50501 NY will join the Migrant March to Protect Migrants and the Planet in NYC.Trump and his broligarchs treat human life—and the planet—as disposable. They want champagne, yachts, private jets, and tax cuts for the rich, while the rest of us struggle to survive. We are taking to the streets under a bold new demand, a "Declaration of Interdependence" - recognizing that our survival depends on:Protecting migrants including climate-displaced Global South people, whose life, care and labor are the backbone of our city.Defending the planet that sustains all life: end all acts of extraction, plunder and violence of our mother earth.Billionaires Out of Our Lives and Our Governments:  Stopping billionaires whose continued existence brings death and destruction of our governments, communities and sovereign peoples. We commit to creating a new normal — one built on interdependence, where we defend and uplift the most vulnerable. We know billionaires seek to claim both land and people as tools for their profit. But when we stand together — when we protect each other — we unlock a simple truth: we have every resource we need to thrive. Our fates are intertwined — when ICE attacks migrants, when polluters poison neighborhoods, when billionaires cut our jobs, they attack us all. This Earth Day weekend, we declare our interdependence and fight back as one.

SAT 4/19: Demand Garcia's return at march to Protect Migrants & the Planet w/ Target Majority NYC

Sat Apr 19 @ 3:45pm • New York, NY 10036
On Saturday, join Target Majority NYC to march with NYC immigration and climate orgs to demand that our city stand up to Trump to protect migrants and protect the earth. With Trump flouting the unanimous SCOTUS decision requiring the return of innocent Maryland dad Kilmar Abrego Garcia, the urgency of mass protest to protect our communities and defend the rule of law has gotten even more urgent. Protest with us Saturday to demand Garcia's return and send our mayor a clear message: to stand up to Trump, protect migrants, and fight for our planet. Together, we can build a New York that works for all of us—not for the tech and the Big Oil elite. We demand: ICE Out of New York. Stop collaborating with ICE and protect our immigrant communities. New York must remain a sanctuary for all. New York Out of Fossil Fuels. Commit to a rapid, just transition to 100% renewable energy. No new fossil fuel infrastructure, and divest from fossil fuels now. New Yorkers won’t back down. We need a Mayor who won’t either. If you haven’t heard of it, Swing Left is a national network that helps people find high impact ways to support Democratic candidates. We focus on the most flippable races as an important step towards ensuring the progressive change needed to create a more inclusive and equitable government and society.

Women's Ride 2025

Sat Apr 19 @ 2pm • The Bronx, NY 10459
Join us for a ride that’s more than just a ride — it’s a movement. The **4th Annual Women’s Ride** is back, bringing together women, non-binary riders, and allies to celebrate the freedom, strength, and joy that comes with cycling. Biking isn’t just about getting from point A to point B — it’s about reclaiming our streets, building confidence, and shaping a future where cycling is safe, accessible, and empowering for everyone. Biking is also freedom. For so many immigrant women, it’s how they get to work, care for their families, and build their futures. Yet, our streets don’t always reflect that reality — especially when safe infrastructure is lacking. This year, our Women’s Ride celebrates the strength of immigrant women and the fight for a city where everyone — no matter where they’re from — can move safely and freely. Together, we’re not just pedaling for fun; we’re riding for change. This is your invitation to join a **10-mile journey through the Bronx and Harlem**, where we’ll show that our safety comes in numbers and our power grows with each push of the pedals. Whether you’re a seasoned cyclist or new to the saddle, this ride is for you. Let’s take up space, amplify our voices, and make it clear: **the future of cycling is for everyone.** 🚲 **All riders are welcome—bring your friends, bring your energy, and let’s ride for a safer, more inclusive biking future!** Route details coming soon.
