STAGING

Collective Defiance is a list of local town halls, protests, and other community events in defiance of the Trump administration.

We only support non-violent action. In addition to being a moral imperative, non-violence is a political strategy. It leads to social change by intentionally provoking compassion and empathy on the part of the viewer. Research shows that it is 10 times more likely to result in democratic change.

To add an event, please post the details to BlueSky with the hashtag #CollectiveDefiance.

The family of Dariel Rivera invites you to join them to honor his memory on Monday, July 14 at 11:00am at 170 Rte. 303 in West Nyack (across Rte.-303 from Spectrum Auto Sales). We will gather on the second anniversary of Dariel's death - at the site where he was struck and killed by a speeding driver - to remember him and call for the passage of the Stop Super Speeders bill and other safety changes to prevent crashes like the one that took his life at the age of 18. Dariel's family will erect a Ghost Scooter in his honor and we will then hear from those who live with the pain of his loss every day.

Summer to Grow: Northwest Bronx Mass Meeting to Turn up the Heat

Wed Jul 23 @ 11pm • The Bronx, NY 10463
In Summer 2025, it’s time to Turn up the Heat. Trump and his billionaire buds continue to push the limits of the presidency, and people are pissed and terrified. Whether it’s about slashing Medicaid for 9 million people or kidnapping our immigrant neighbors, it’s clear that the far right is escalating their racist, billionaire agenda. Have you ever gone to a protest or an action because you were pissed off, scared or wanting a way to get things off your chest? It can feel empowering and connecting to show up and take action, especially for the first time. But what comes after that? Join SURJ for a community meeting to get grounded together, get clear on our analysis of how we got here – and then get organized for the work ahead. Showing Up for Racial Justice (SURJ) is the largest organization in the US that explicitly organizes white communities for racial and economic justice-- because white people have a responsibility to step up and make sure our communities take a stand.

Out of CECOT—National Action to Bring our People Home

Thu Jul 24 @ 7pm • New York, NY 10016
What does President of El Salvador Bukele want on July 24? A big beautiful birthday. What do we want? To remind him that there are hundreds of men who were unlawfully rendered to torture prison in his country and we want them out. He needs to either let them go or send them back to the US. Join activists in Denver, Oakland, Arkansas, San Diego,, Seattle, Chicago and other cities to GET LOUD on CECOT! We will all be protesting in front of El Salvadoran consulates on the same day all around the US to make Bukele’s birthday a day to remember the suffering of others and remind El Salvador to uphold the Declaration of Human Rights that they signed. Bring your signs and banners to El Salvador’s Permanent Mission to the United Nations to let the president of El Salvador know we want those people out. This will be a sidewalk protest in front of the Mission. A small group will personally deliver hand written messages asking for the return of the unlawfully detained. We respect the people of El Salvador and the work of the Mission in serving their own people. This is not a protest of the Mission, but it is a message to Bukele. We will respect the workers and clients that come to the Consulate for services. We intend that the staff will pass our concerns and passion on to their President to let him know there are many in the US public unhappy with his complicity with Trump. Coordinated locally by the Joint Immigration Committee of Inwood Indivisible in collaboration with other immigrant rights groups. Join us to demand OUT OF CECOT NOW!
